Who we are

Mister Spex is Europe’s leading omnichannel optician. What makes us unique is the combination of optometry and tech. We are looking for tech talents who want to join us in disrupting the market with new digital solutions. Everything we develop is designed to help our customers find the perfect glasses or sunglasses easily, quickly, and with fun and joy, in the online shop as well as in person.

To support the customer journey with passion and focus, we split it into six parts, called Tribes. As the Checkout & Return-Tribe, we are a cross-domain tribe with a broad range of responsibilities. Our work combines the web shop with the ERP, supports online checkout and retail purchases, controls the payment flow and the login experience across multiple applications.

In our tribe, we gear up for the next level. Our eCommerce-solution brought us where we are now. Our web shop adopted micro services/micro frontends. For the checkout it is time to follow. Together we can rethink and recreate it.

What you’ll do

Work with us to create a checkout experience which can support our unique selling processes

Join us building a payment platform to harmonize payment provider integrations across multiple services.

Create solutions to unify shopping in our stores and our web shop

Support the processes in our current Java-based eCommerce platform

Your work in an agile team following SCRUM/Kanban processes, being involved in every step of the software development cycle from design to run it in production.

What you shall bring

You are an experienced contributor, developing features on at least 2 stacks including Java and NodeJS/JavaScript/TypeScript/React

A mixture of working onsite and remote suites you. You communicate with your teammates proactively and feel comfortable to raise your opinions and own solution ideas in productive discussions with stakeholders and product owners

Software testing happens automatically. Period. You are familiar with modern test frameworks, the test pyramid and apply this to your daily work.

Learn and adapt. Agile software development practices help you to move forward in small increments.

“You build it, you run it” is your mindset, you love CI/CD (we use GitLab, K8s) and infrastructure as code (in Azure & AWS).

Hiring process

At Mister Spex you are recruited for your competencies, skill set and potential. Our hiring process is tailored to your expectations and consists of 4 steps:

Step 1 / Recruiter Interview – Our goal is to evaluate what your personal development plan is and what do you expect from a new company.

Step 2 / Manager – An interview with our Team Leads, we will evaluate what are your strengths & what team specifically will allow you to make the biggest impact.

Step 3 / Meet your team – At this point, we internally matched you with one or multiple teams and give you the chance to meet them personally.

Step 4 / Meet our CTO – Get2know with our CTO, followed by detailed feedback or an offer.
